Vesta Powder – also by the name of Salt Peter and its scientific name, Potassium Nitrate
Hestia is the daughter of Rhea and Kronos, the keeper of Time.
Functions of Vesta Powder
Cleansing and Uncrossing/protection – This substance takes away impurities in a flash of Fire.
Self-lighting incense mixtures – Vesta Powder is the combustible ingredient in self-lighting charcoal. Mix this white powder into your incense blends to make it self-lighting. Do not use more than 10% of the total mixture.
This stuff is a chemical compound. According to Wikipedia: Potassium nitrate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula KNO. 3. . It is an ionic salt of potassium ions K+ and nitrate ions NO3−, and is therefore an alkali metal nitrate. It occurs in nature as a mineral, niter.
During war times, the military puts very small doses of this Salt Peter into the food, because it is an anaphrodisiac. This means it lowers the libido. While there’s a bit of debate about the correct form of the word anaphrodisiac, pretty much everyone agrees that it dampens the sexual fires. This is of special interest since, it is highly combustible and both Hestia and Vesta are Fire Goddesses. Yet, interestingly, both are virginal figures.
USE CAUTION!!! VERY FLAMMABLE!!!
Place a (very) tiny pinch of this powder in a fire-proof container and light it. Be certain to use a long match or a fireplace lighter. The small explosion that ensues helps to remove harmful energies.
Do this at your own risk. I’ve done it lots of times but then, I’m nuts. You probably have something to live for, so be careful!
This particular product doesn’t quite fit the bill of a “natural”. So, I am placing it in the “Special Items” section and here it stays.
