Saturn, Water, Feminine
Myrrh is a staple of the esoteric practitioner’s supply closet. It has a dark and mysterious scent.
Considered by many to be a twisting energy, this substance should be used in combination with another, guiding force, such as Frankincense. Traditional church incense is a blend of Frankincense and Myrrh.
The theory is that, left to their own devices, twisting herbs (or roots, resins, etc) will move in unpredictable directions. It is recommended to combine Myrrh with Frankincense or other materia magica.
Closely related to the planet Saturn, it is suitable for any kind of spell work that calls for seriousness, determination, immovable power or land-based sorcery, anything to do with property, the Earth itself, the home, agriculture, etc.
Saturn rules over prisons, contracts, slavery, anything to do with preserving the status quo and is perfect for binding works to “hold down” dangerous people.
Two forms are offered here, the chunk resin and the powdered form. If you need Myrrh but don’t want to grind it into powder by hand, then you’ll want the powdered form. It is ideal for compounding your own incense blends, without too much fuss.
Of course, some people want the chunks, because the personal act of grinding the resin chunks gives the opportunity to program it with your intent, during that process, through prayer or recitation of a chant, etc. You can grind the Myrrh chunks into a powder using a mortar and pestle or place the chunk pieces directly on burning charcoal.
