Uses for Frankincense
Solar in nature, Frankincense is the all-purpose incense of magicians and it purifies any area or person or thing. Call in the powers and agencies of Sol and at the same time, add a pleasant ambience to the room.
A basic, bare-bones level, must have tool and any magician worth their salt will have it on hand at all times. This part of the sorcerer’s arsenal not only blesses but it draws in good, positive forces, too.
I even know some atheists who respect the power of ritual and they burn Frankincense, because they say it changes consciousness. It is such a powerful and lovely smell and just delightful to work with.
Frankincense is a fine substitute for Olibanum and in fact, some say they are basically the same thing. I disagree… but I know talented magicians who have different views than my own and I respect their opinions. There are many variations of Frankincense and Boswellia carteri is only one type. It’s a standard, accepted by practitioners everywhere and is always in style.
Don’t have the proper incense for a particular ritual or working? Many workers say that Boswellia carteri can substitute for anything else.
This is a powerful, solar energy, perfect for working with Helios, the Titan of the Sun. Likewise, Ceremonial Magick practitioners will find great value in working with it, to call on the solar entities. For invoking Sol, YHVH ELOAH VE-DAATH, Michael, Raphael, Nakhiel or Sorath, get this stuff permeating the room!
Collected from the plant Boswellia carteri, Frankincense is great to invoke Ra, the Egyptian God of the Sun. Use it to purify a space, to consecrate ritual tools, to exorcise a place, an object or person and to invite blessings of all kinds.
Two forms are offered here, chunks of resin or finely powdered. Just place the chunks of resin directly on lit charcoal… smells luscious and sweet. If you are making your own blend of incense, you may want the powdered form, to get a more even distribution and scent.
Do not ingest. For external use only.
