Blessed Salt

Size: 60 mL glass bottle

This is Sea Salt. It’s the same stuff you can get at your grocery store. So why buy it here?

The difference is that this salt has been ceremonially consecrated.

Blessed Salt? What do you do with this snazzy, special Salt? The possibilities are many. You can use it to make Holy Water. After spiritually cleansing your home, you can use it to make a type of psychic barrier by walking the perimeter of your property, laying out a very thin line of it, while praying. This keeps unfriendly Spirits and various malefica away.

In ritual magick, it is common to have the Four Elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth present on your altar. A paten (a type of small platter) placed on the Northern portion of the altar with some Blessed Salt on it will do nicely.

If you need to cleanse your Temple space , try throwing a pinch of this Salt to each cardinal point, East, South, West, North. Or add it to a floor wash. You can ritually cleanse just about anything with a bucket of clean water to which you’ve added some Blessed Salt and a bit of Holy Water. Pour in a tablespoon or so of Chinese Wash for extra oomph.

Also try adding Blessed Salt to a ritual bath. Add a pinch of it to a mojo bag that is designed to keep malevolent Spirits at bay. The list goes on and on!

Salt is representative of Elemental Earth. To bless this Salt of Earth, I open up my Temple and invoke Elemental Earth.

I wrote a ritual which is several pages in length; it’s not just a quick Hail Mary or reading a brief, witchy-sounding rhyme over it and visualizing white light. This ceremony opens the Northern Quarter, where we find Uriel, the Archangel of the North and Boreas (or Aquila), the North Wind.

The traditional rites for banishing unwanted forces and invoking positive powers are executed. Various prayers and conjurations are given to empower the Salt. One example is the Conjuration of the Salt, given in the work of Eliphas Levi. Several other powerful incantations are given as part of the work that is done over this Salt.

I use proper astrological elections (timing) to consecrate my Blessed Salt.

For example, the most recent batch was done with Luna (the Moon) waxing in Virgo, in a trine to Saturn in Capricorn. Utilizing the waxing Moon is to build power. She was in the sign of Mutable Earth, giving the power to effect change, where necessary and to sort the wheat from the chaff. It’s more excellent still that She was trine to the heavy, Earth energy planet of Saturn in Capricorn, which is the sign of Cardinal Earth.
